Biography

Vincent Keter hails from the same town as World Champion Timothy Cheruiyot, having moved from Bomet to Nairobi in March 2018. At 20 he is one of the next generation of athletes to emerge from the Rongai Athletics Club (RAC) system under the guidance of Coach Bernard Ouma.

Following a twelve month period spent adapting to his new training environment, Vincent qualified for the African under-18 championships in May 2019 where, on his first ever trip abroad, he won gold in the 1,500m for Kenya. He followed this up in July 2019 when, on his first ever trip to Europe, he took the win and meet record in Karlstad, running a PB of 3.36.27.

Vincent’s 2020 season got off to a great start with a win over 1500m indoors on his debut (3.37) in Metz, France. Then the coronavirus pandemic hit. A part in the Oslo Diamond League Impossible Games over 2,000m and then stepping into the Monaco Diamond League as a second pace maker to 1100. A strong 4th at the Nairobi ContinentalTour Gold meet ended the season.

At the 2021 Lievin indoor tour 3,000m Vincent was a crucial pace maker in the where the winner Wale from Ethiopia was miliseconds off the indoor world record. His new outdoor PB of 3.35.21 stems from his win at Sollentuna Grand Prix.

A firm focus on making the team for the World U20 Championships on home soil in Nairobi was a big motivation for the 2021 season. The heats and finals in trials navigated, Vincent went into the championships with the pressure of trying to keep Kenyan’s World U20 Gold medal in Kenyan hands. A win in the semi-final set him up well and there was no looking back in the Finals. A dominant display and the win of his career to date. World U20 Champion.

We source and provide travel and accommodation options for our athletes in the lead up to their competitions. This is done through a strong relationship with our own reputable and established travel agent.

Finance and accounting

Every athlete should expect openness, transparency and integrity with regard to all financial matters. Although we do not specifically manage our athlete’s funds, we ensure clear and understandable breakdowns are provided and source any documentation related to areas such as foreign withholding tax issues.

Sponsorship negotiation

Maximising our athlete’s earnings through sponsorship opportunities is central to Moyo Sports work. We have built partnerships with all major shoe brands’ UK, European and International marketing departments.

Moyo Sports has relationships with several key Embassies worldwide in order to facilitate smooth visa application processes for our athletes. In particular our service centre in Addis Ababa and Nairobi provide all visa, insurance and embassy services for our athletes, as well as medical certificate requirements such as yellow fever and proof of vaccinations and assistance in obtaining P-1 USA visas.

Media and brand development

Whether they are from the UK, East Africa or elsewhere athletes have diverse and unique stories which should be understood and promoted to a wider audience. We source opportunities through TV, radio, print and online publications but increasingly produce our own content for distribution using new technology and social media.
