Biography

Twenty year old Tsigie Gebreselema is a rising distance running star from Ethiopia. She will compete for Ethiopia in the Tokyo Olympics Games 10,000m after an excellent 2nd place at the Ethiopian Athletics Federation Trials in 30.06.01, 5th fastest in the world in 2021 and 14th all-time.

In her youth she won a Bronze medal in a dramatic sprint finish in the U20 race at the World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus in 2019. A year previously she won Bronze at the World U20 championships over 3,000m. Since then she has demonstrated her versatility over all surfaces: an impressive 30.57 over 10,000m at the Ethiopian World Championship Trials in Hengelo to end the year ranked 14 in world as per World Athletics top lists, a win at the Istanbul 15km in early November and  a 2nd place in the Great Ethiopian Run, one of the most fiercely competitive road races in the world at 8,000ft above sea level!

Eary in 2020 Tsigie won the Ethiopian National XC in the senior category and posted a solid time for 3,000m indoors with PB of 8.45.76 in Val de Reuil, France.  Then Coronavirus struck and it was not until October at the Nairobi Continental Tour that she raced again. 4th in the 5,000m.

Plans for her Half marathon debut in New Delhi were put on hold due to her being stranded for all of November in Mekele, the capital of the Tigray region, as a result of war.

Tsigie Gebreselama keeps her focus in face of conflict

Thankfully she is now based in Addis Ababa and has already run two excellent performances in 2021: winning the Great Ethiopia Run in January and running a 3,000m indoor PB of 8.38 at the World Indoor Tour event in Lievin in February.

The biggest stage in the worldm awaits. The Olympic Games. A very bright future ahead on the world stage beckons.

Competition scheduling/negotiation

Strong and trusting relationships built over the past decade with event and meeting directors worldwide is a cornerstone to Moyo Sports ability to deliver for athletes needs. Whether Diamond League, World Challenge, European or Classic track meets to World Marathon Major Series and IAAF Gold, Silver and Bronze label races, to IAAF permit cross country events we have established a network to deliver.

Travel and accomodation management

We source and provide travel and accommodation options for our athletes in the lead up to their competitions. This is done through a strong relationship with our own reputable and established travel agent.

Finance and accounting

Every athlete should expect openness, transparency and integrity with regard to all financial matters. Although we do not specifically manage our athlete’s funds, we ensure clear and understandable breakdowns are provided and source any documentation related to areas such as foreign withholding tax issues.

Sponsorship negotiation

Maximising our athlete’s earnings through sponsorship opportunities is central to Moyo Sports work. We have built partnerships with all major shoe brands’ UK, European and International marketing departments.

Visa, insurance and medical services

Moyo Sports has relationships with several key Embassies worldwide in order to facilitate smooth visa application processes for our athletes. In particular our service centre in Addis Ababa and Nairobi provide all visa, insurance and embassy services for our athletes, as well as medical certificate requirements such as yellow fever and proof of vaccinations and assistance in obtaining P-1 USA visas.

Media and brand development

Whether they are from the UK, East Africa or elsewhere athletes have diverse and unique stories which should be understood and promoted to a wider audience. We source opportunities through TV, radio, print and online publications but increasingly produce our own content for distribution using new technology and social media.
