Josh’s biography

Welshman Josh Griffiths represented Great Britain for he first time at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London coming 39th overall. This was only Josh’s 2nd ever marathon, the first being the British trial race at the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon the previous April.  That day will forever be a day to remember. On his debut marathon he found himself 1st British athlete, 13th overall, a 2.14.49 PB and an automatic qualification for the British team for the World Championships. A truely remarkable story.

Fast forward to 2022 and Josh is now a well established and experienced marathoner with a 2.11.24 personal best from Seville Marathon, 2022. He ran the toughest race of his life at the Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast, Australia representing Wales. In spring 2018 he backed this up with a solid 7th place in 2.16.09 in a strong international field at Dublin Marathon. 2019 brought a PB of 2.14.26 in London and a top 10 finish at the  Toronto marathon.

2020 started well with a PB of 63.33 for the Half Marathon in Barcelona, and a 7th place finish at the Big Half in London, which was good enough to earn selection for the British team for the World Half Marathon championships. With the pandemic upon us plans changed and so a strong run in Antrim with new half marathon PB of 63.08 bode well for the next target. The 40th London Marathon went very well for Josh in very challenging conditions – a 2.13.11 PB and Bronze in the British Marathon Championships.

Next up – the World Championships in Eugene!

Josh is self coached and completed his MSc in Sports Coaching and runs his own coaching business. https://www.joshgriffrun.com/

Competition scheduling/negotiation

Strong and trusting relationships built over the past decade with event and meeting directors worldwide is a cornerstone to Moyo Sports ability to deliver for athletes needs. Whether Diamond League, World Challenge, European or Classic track meets to World Marathon Major Series and IAAF Gold, Silver and Bronze label races, to IAAF permit cross country events we have established a network to deliver.

Travel and accomodation management

We source and provide travel and accommodation options for our athletes in the lead up to their competitions. This is done through a strong relationship with our own reputable and established travel agent.

Finance and accounting

Every athlete should expect openness, transparency and integrity with regard to all financial matters. Although we do not specifically manage our athlete’s funds, we ensure clear and understandable breakdowns are provided and source any documentation related to areas such as foreign withholding tax issues.

Sponsorship negotiation

Maximising our athlete’s earnings through sponsorship opportunities is central to Moyo Sports work. We have built partnerships with all major shoe brands’ UK, European and International marketing departments.

Visa, insurance and medical services

Moyo Sports has relationships with several key Embassies worldwide in order to facilitate smooth visa application processes for our athletes. In particular our service centre in Addis Ababa and Nairobi provide all visa, insurance and embassy services for our athletes, as well as medical certificate requirements such as yellow fever and proof of vaccinations and assistance in obtaining P-1 USA visas.

Media and brand development

Whether they are from the UK, East Africa or elsewhere athletes have diverse and unique stories which should be understood and promoted to a wider audience. We source opportunities through TV, radio, print and online publications but increasingly produce our own content for distribution using new technology and social media.
