Haftom Welday
Haftom Welday is a German marathon runner of Ethiopian origin. He was an excellent 15th place at the world championships marathon in Budapest in 2023.
This impressive performance solidified his position as one of Germany’s most promising marathon runners.
Welday’s journey has not been easy. In 2014, he fled his home country due to political unrest and sought refuge in Germany. He and his family now live in Hamburg and in September 2022 he was officially granted German citizenship.
